The internet is eating itself
Adam Gee (born 2002) is a contemporary artist that works in both photographic and video-based Mediums. Based in the south coast of England. He aims to explore internet culture and its history from its early existence to the modern day. He uses processes that include working with techniques that can only exist with the internet such as ascii art to explore digital culture. The purpose is to explore and critique the normalities/ abnormalities and traditions through each era of the web from its free form beginnings to its more corporatized existence that we currently have. A particular element of his work currently is meme culture and how it connects the audience through the screen with large scale sharing of ideas.
A large focus of their work is the mass production of content and large scale spread of ideas that exists on the internet, ultimately exploring how this spread of content and ideas creates a lack of originality on the internet.
Their work has been showcased at the auger collective and bad space both located in Bournemouth and is soon to showcase his work in the Copelands gallery in London.
