Portraits of the unseen
Sol Gatehouse (b. 2002) is a London based mixed media artist who specialises in wildlife photography and mixed media fine art portraits. Inspired by Zanele Muholi, as well as Natural Geographic; Gatehouse is interested in telling other people’s stories through these mediums as well as their love and dedication to conservation. Gatehouse’s most notable work to date is ‘Transcending the Visual’; a fine art, mixed media piece that includes audio, imagery, as well as a tactile sculpture. Mentored by Janet kelyn in wildlife photography, Gatehouse has been able to expand their knowledge outside of education as there were unexpected challenges in secondary school.
They graduated from the Arts University Bournemouth in 2026 after completing BA (Hons) Photography course, and have plans to extend their education into a Masters in the future. Gatehouse took part in many exhibitions, including showing at the BAD space (Bournemouth, June 2025), The Auger Collective (Bournemouth, February 2026), and Copeland Park, (London, July 2026). They have experience project managing in professional shoots for brands like Dopple clothing swap and organising a student run agency.
